• Shade Tolerance: 'Dauben' is one of the rare water lilies that can bloom successfully with as little as 4 hours of sunlight, making it perfect for dappled garden spots.

• The "Mother" Plant: This variety is highly viviparous . You will notice small "baby" lilies growing directly from the center of the mature lily pads.These can eventually be detached to start new plants.

• Compact Growth: Because it can be easily "dwarfed" by the size of its pot, it is widely considered the best tropical lily for small tubs, wine barrels, or balcony water gardens.

• Cold Hardiness: While still a tropical, 'Dauben' is significantly more cold-tolerant than many other tropicals, often blooming later into the autumn season, we have known it to flower throughout the winter on the Costa del Sol.
